Shouldn't Police Min Michael Woodhouse be speaking out more about #Roastbusters report?
The following is an ehaustive list of Government press releases on the IPCA report:
Any statements from@John Key on #Roastbusters inquiry? No? Nothing? #nzpol
How can we understand incompetent investigation #roastbusters? Some dinosaurs & misogyny w/in police? Kim McGregor #icpa @ninetonoon @RPE_NZ
Petition to get rid of XFactor Judge:50000 sigs overnight, petition to re-investigate child sexual abuse gets less than 2000 #RoastBusters
I don't buy the Police Assn line that Roastbusters fail is about resources. They might have more cred if victimless drug prosecutions = 0
After listening to @SusieFergusonNZ interview police this morning, my wife and I said "Thank god we don't have to raise daughters in this"
Marianne Elliott @zenpeacekeeper
Every time I re-read IPCA report on 'Roast Busters' I'm more disappointed in the investigating officers, but also more impressed by IPCA.
How To Apologise (a guide for Police): "We are deeply ashamed by the findings of the IPCA. I've apologised personally to the victims... 1/2
Nice job @SusieFergusonNZ, the Deputy Police Commissioner should feel ashamed of this debacle
What I want to know is whether any of the police involved in the #roastbusters debacle were women. So far it doesn't sound like it.
Sarah Austen-Smith @austensara
Greg O'Connor is furious on @BreakfastonOne laying into the Police Commissioner ( more than usual). Listen if you missed it #Roastbusters
Deputy Police Commissioner sticking to his script religiously #morningreport
"The police have been really trying to make positive changes..." Police shouldn't have to change to get a correct attitude to sexual assault
So the IPCA has found that the police involved in #Roastbusters case were systematically useless. And still our Min 4 Women isn't a feminist
Safer communities. Yeah right #NZPolice #Roastbusters
@police:"The Minister has our confidence, after all,she specifically requested the #Roastbusters cops work on the #DirtyPolitics complaints."
one has to wonder why police didn't investigate, we know a policemans son was one of the alledged rapists... #shame #corrupt #roastbusters
Commissioner;"@police website home page to feature static permanent apology "to save all these continual press conferences" #Roastbusters
Police handling of the #Roastbusters case highlights continued systemic and cultural failings within the NZ Police http://www.ncwnz.org.nz/roastbuster-issue-wider-than-individual-police-officer-practice/ …
Shocked that the angry women turned out to have good reason to be angry, again. Police to apologise, again.
Marie McNicholas @MarieMcNicholas
Police minister says he agrees with just about everything his Labour opposite has said about police conduct inquiry into Roastbusters case.
And cops wonder why we don't respect them.
Lizzie Marvelly @LizzieMarvelly
Officers not doing a good job is not a systemic failure? Can we just think about that for a second? #roastbusters
another day, another adverse finding by the Independent Police Conduct Authority that will be buried and result in absolutely no change
@di_f_w @nataliejonesnz I don't think I've ever seen an IPCA report quite THIS adverse before.
According to Michael Woodhouse, IPCA Roastbusters report just shows "a disappointing exception in an upward trend in better policing" lol
Why is the house almost empty during this debate on the IPCA report into roastbusters?
Tolley is very eager to blame this on individual rather than systemic failures - because any systemic failures would be hers.
You who seems to repeatedly get away with ignorance of the law? The police. You know what ignorance of the law isn't? A fucking defense.
Catherine Delahunty @greencatherine
No more Reviews its time for action so that young women can have faith in the police
Lizzie Marvelly @LizzieMarvelly
How is the fiasco of the #roastbusters investigation not a complete failure of the system? Young women need to feel safe to come forward.
Once again, wishing Minister of Police was a bit less Minister for Police.
What the IPCA report shows is that the public can not have confidence in @nzpolice
Catherine Delahunty @greencatherine
IPCA identifies systemic failure, question is why is this still happening? Bad individual police is not the explanation
Look forward to seeing how the Twitterati seek as much action on #Roastbusters as they did for Moon and Kills.
Young Molly Weasley @ColeyTangerina
Can @amyadamsMP or @WoodhouseMP shed any light on whether they'll be asking @nzpolice to seek prosecution in light of the IPCA report?
I know decimation seems inhumane, but I reckon the summary firing of one officer in 10 involved in an adverse IPCA finding would do wonders
So what changes do the Police plan to make in light of IPCA findings? You know, that they didn't make after the 2007 Beazley report.
There is no mention in @nzpolice PR that any of the officers who IPCA blames have been held to account.
Catriona MacLennan @CatMacLennanNZ ·
at time + we were told police decis not lay charges was reviewed by Akld Crown Solicitor. What does IPCA report mean abt Crown Solic advc? 3
Catriona MacLennan @CatMacLennanNZ ·
Roastbusters IPCA report -read paras 80-90. Police don't understand law abt consent, alcohol, sexual conduct with p under 16.I raised this 2
Can someone explain to me in small words why every single Police officer involved in the #roastbusters case still has their badge?
Jarrod Gilbert @JarrodGilbertNZ
We can never expect the police to be perfect, but I am truly astounded by the IPCA findings in relation to 'Roast Busters'.
Tweeting as someone who has represented far too many young sex offenders over the years #Roastbusters report is utterly damning of police
IPCA exonerates police nationwide, then highlights multiple reports showing same problems exist nationwide #FFS
So IPCA lends its mana to protect reputation of police. Its what they're for.
In today's news that shocked nobody, the police fucked up on "Roast Busters". The only shock is how much they fucked it up.
IPCA shows need 4 indep taskforce 2 implement recs. We've had 8 yrs of these problems being identified & still victims wait 4 justice.
In 2007 Dame Margaret Bazley delivered a report on Police and rape culture. The 2015 IPCA report on Roastbusters shows nothing’s changed.
IPCA PR talks about how they found no nationwide failings. Of course not - because they didn't investigate them.
IPCA RE::Roastbusters Police are terrible at their jobs, but great at writing the subsequent condolence cards to victims.
Obvious question for @nzpolice: what action, if any, have they taken against the officer who failed in #RoastBusters?
Pretty sure victims of gang rape don't want a male cop at their house with an apology. Pretty sure they want actual justice. #Roastbusters
Yet ANOTHER case of @nzpolice incompetence and mismanagement - no-one fired, mealy mouthed platitudes an all is forgotten #roastbusters
Jordan McCluskey @prinnbanktce
Nothing works any more. Institutions. The Police. Government. The Courts. Reform needed or it all falls apart.
I wonder if Police deciding Roastbusters cases were too hard to prosecute can be blamed on unwillingness to risk bad conviction metrics.
Police didn't bring statutory rape charges against #RoastBusters because they thought that law was only targeted at consenting partners #WTF
Police and Crown Law making random (?) guesses about which cases will lead to prosecutions seems to be a flaw in our current justice system
So the Police Commissioner, Police Minister, Justice Minister, and the Commander for Waitemata District to resign? Of course not
Paragraph 79 of the #Roastbusters report is pretty much the NZ Police in a nutshell.
Really, you actually have to work quite hard to balls that investigation up. #RoastBusters
Statement from Commissioner Mike Bush: Police accept Roastbusters investigation let down victims and NZ public http://ow.ly/2W9FHn
