Can GarethMorgan please STFU about te Tiriti and read about contra proferentem before just kinda making things up? http://garethsworld.com/treaty/correct-version-treaty/ …
Te wairua o te korero not the letter of the law. Great response to Gareth Morgan: http://news.tangatawhenua.com/2015/01/gareth-morgan-wairua-and-the-challenge-of-love/ … #waitangi
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
I also decided against a direct critique of Gareth Morgan in my Herald pieces. That's not the point. (1/2)
Selling Trademe for $700mn and making Gareth Morgan rich is spawning unintended consequences. It is encroaching on equal citizenship.
Morgan Godfery @MorganGodfery
if you send me gareth morgan's book i'll review it, though it'll probably just be a different version of this: http://mauistreet.blogspot.co.nz/2015/01/gareth-morgan-and-pakeha-pathology.html …
I still think 'we' as in 'we Maori' is problematic in the 21stC unless you are a bureacrat or rich.http://news.tangatawhenua.com/2015/01/gareth-morgan-wairua-and-the-challenge-of-love/ … via @digitalmaori
Gareth Morgan: We can honour 1840 promises without dividing nation - in other words, without upsetting white people. http://www.nzherald.co.nz/politics/news/article.cfm?c_id=280&objectid=11383734 …
Morgan Godfrey and Gareth Morgan; now there's a duo. Enough self certainty between them to conquer the world.
I'm glad we have economic/feline/treaty expert Gareth Morgan to preach to us. Where would we be without him?

HarveySpectre @HarveySpectre_
Not satisfied with "economist", "animal welfare spokesman" and "reverse trust fund baby" Gareth Morgan adds "Treaty expert" to his CV
Jordan McCluskey @prinnbanktce
Someone give Gareth Morgan a laptop with Wikipedia so he will never bother us again.

Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
Gareth Morgan almost gets it re Rangatiratanga in today's piece. But our aspiration is for more than select devolution.
Gareth Morgan. Bro. Just shush. Here. Grab a tea towel. Kitchen is that way.
Jordan McCluskey @prinnbanktce
What makes doctorally educated economists (Don Brash, Gareth Morgan) experts on the Treaty of Waitangi?
I was enjoying my day until I found out Gareth Morgan was allowed to write a four-part series of articles about the Treaty for the @nzherald
"Long story short, Tiriti o Waitangi actually bans cats." - Gareth Morgan, probably.
Can't believe Gareth Morgan is mansplaining the Treaty #smdh
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
So much wrong with Gareth Morgans piece today. I'll highlight two in particular.
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
1: Article. 3. Does. Not. Apply. To. Pakeha.
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
2: The constitutional change of the Māori electorates that happened by stealth? Yep, cos they have only been around for over 100 years.
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
Fucking straw man arguments in every single anti Māori opinion piece.
The problem I have with Gareth Morgan's treaty pieces so far is that they talk about the Tribunal etc 'establishing' or 'creating' rights...
Young Molly Weasley @ColeyTangerina
Next in Gareth Morgan tackles the Hard Issues - pay equity and women; why don't they just negotiate harder?
Young Molly Weasley @ColeyTangerina
Imagine being Gareth Morgan though. Just having a huge platform to weigh in on shit you have no personal experience of or training in
Can we as a country make the pledge to allow no more Gareth Morgan opinion pieces
Shorter Gareth Morgan: I don't understand the Treaty Settlement Process.
Ugh. I hope no one decides to attack Gareth Morgan in our office over his stupid treaty articles.
@_jjw_ I hope someone takes the time to write an analysis of his treaty pieces. He has a large platform for his reckons.
@farmgeek I hope they don't. Let's put a glass bell jar over this ignorant ember and extinguish it through lack of oxygen.
@_jjw_ I can see your point, but there will already be a lot of people looking at that ember and saying "sounds about right"
@farmgeek I don't think a lengthy analysis of Morgan's articles/book is going to reach the people who are saying that.
@_jjw_ Also a fair point
@farmgeek We need pithy soundbites for a media-addled nation, John. Don't let anyone tell you anything else.
So is Treaty a "timeless arrangement" or shd we stick to Art 2? Morgan wants evolution except where this means Maori political rights ...(8)
Morgan: power for councils 2 decide on Maori Wards inconsistent with "equal citizenship". But equality isn't treating everyone the same. (4)
Uh-oh. BP: 142/102.
@LI_politico did you end up reading Morgan then?
Serious question, on what authority is Gareth Morgan commenting on Treaty Settlement??? Seriously?? What is his Treaty expertise?
Rāwinia Thompson @rawiniathompson
Gareth Morgan says many more problematic, highly questionable and just downright silly things. Read critically, or better yet, don't read.
I've met Gareth Morgan a couple of times, it really is a shame that he is too nice to punch in the face
“@garethmorgannz: Future of the Treaty of Waitangi http://garethsworld.com/treaty/one-sided-tribunal-process-recipe-ongoing-tension/ …” Important column on difficult issues.
The scary thing about Gareth Morgan's latest crusade is how many important details about Treaty process he is getting completely incorrect
Rāwinia Thompson @rawiniathompson
Why are people like Paul Moon and Gareth Morgan the @nzherald's go-to commentators on Māori issues?
Sometimes a mental trick I use not to buy a book when I visit a bookshop is to think of one I would unpublish. This week: Gareth Morgan.
I repeat, we should feed Gareth Morgan to the hungry cats.
Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
Because fuck that noise. We don't need a pakeha telling us what Rangatiratanga means.
.@jcphitchcock How about Richard Benton & Alex Frame? Along with Paul Meredith (Ngāti Maniapoto) they wrote: http://vup.victoria.ac.nz/brands/Richard-Benton,-Alex-Frame,-Paul-Meredith.html …
> Joshua Hitchcock@jcphitchcock
@lancewiggs appreciate the references & yes I'm familiar with their work. I'm a treaty scholar and lawyer so know where to look. But thanks
@jcphitchcock just noting that 2/3 are Pakeha (it seems). There is no monopoly on thought or scholarship based on race.
> Joshua Hitchcock @jcphitchcock
@lancewiggs there are plenty of excellent pakeha scholars of Te Tiriti I agree. The issue is more around defining what Rangatiratanga ...
Stephanie Rodgers @bootstheory
Oh my god Gareth Morgan has a BOOK out on "the future of the Treaty". So qualified, much credibility. #rpt
Morgan Godfery @MorganGodfery
i really enjoy the fact gareth morgan's new book on the treaty is being sold at "the children's bookshop" https://childrensbookshop.circlesoft.net/products/828982?barcode=9780987666680&title=AreWeThereYet%3FTheFutureoftheTreatyofWaitangi …
