I am about to start a series of blog postings on liberation based around the current party finance reform debate in New Zealand. These will take the form of examining Party Finance Myths in which I want to debunk some myths about party finance and introduce or promote into the debate some little known or discussed issues relating to party finance in NZ. The postings will very much be ‘works in progress’, as I’ll continue to alter those postings with further information as it comes to my attention. Much of the information for these postings will come from my 2003 PhD thesis Political Parties in New Zealand: A Study of Ideological and Organisational Transformation. Some of the information is therefore a bit out of date, but I hope to update the facts and arguments over the following weeks and months.
