Police in New Zealand used to be relatively highly regarded, respected and trusted. But new research shows that the public now only give the police a performance rating of 68 out of 100, which isn't very impressive. Unsurprisingly, the groups that normally feel the heat of 'the force' rate them even lower - groups such as 18-25 year olds, younger Pacific Islanders, Maori, new migrants, and (strangely enough) Aucklanders. A media report on these findings puts a more positive spin on the report.
