A new report by a United Nations agency indicates staggering inequality in the world. The report is based upon the largest study yet of wealth distribution and 'is the first to chart wealth distribution in every country as opposed to just income'. Some 'highlights' of the report include:
- The richest 1% of adults in the world own 40% of the planet's wealth
- The richest 10% of adults in the world own 85% of the planet's wealth
- The poorest 50% of adults in the world own 1% of the planet's wealth
