Last week the Herald published an interesting report on the pay of those at the top. The pay of the high earners rose by an average 23 percent last year. And as an indication NZ is evolving further into a "bourgeois feminist paradise", the two top earners in the country are women (both earning about $3m). In contrast to these stats, Statistics New Zealand says that the average salary is $41,331 a year, and that average earnings increased by only 3.1 per cent last year. By this account, the average pay of the top bosses was nearly 25 times larger at $1,018,103. A list of those at the top and their earnings can be found here.
